Our Creative Tots have had a great first few weeks of school! We have our routines down and our days fly by! We have gotten to know each other and learned about the letters A and B as well as the number 1, the triangle and the color red! We have had fun doing lots of crafts, such as Pom Pom names, A is for Apple and B is for Button! Today we made 1 Little monkey jumping on the bed! In circle time, we did a 5 little monkeys activity, that all the children loved! They are all so sweet and we love having them in our class!
As part of our Art curriculum, we are learning about different types of art and ways to express yourself. We are so grateful that artist Dawn Godfrey with “Mural, Mural On The Wall” shared her talents with us. What a fantastic hands-on learning experience for our Creative Tots! May has been a busy month in the preschool classroom. We invited our Mothers to a “Mommy and Me Tea” to celebrate Mother’s Day. The Mothers enjoyed listening to songs, making crafts, and of course sharing tea and cookies with their children. We also completed our study of the life cycle of the butterfly by observing live caterpillars change into butterflies in the classroom and attending a fun field trip to the Krohn Conservatory for the butterfly show.
The preschoolers have been celebrating St.Patrick’s Day though math games, art and fine motor activities. We even got an opportunity to search for leprechaun’s gold. The children have also been exploring the world of dinosaurs. The highlight of dinosaur week was our volcano experiment where we combined vinegar, food coloring and baking soda to make an awesome volcanic eruption. No month would be complete without a visit from the Cincinnati Zoo. The children enjoyed learning about animals that lay eggs and got a close up view of a hen and a box turtle.
The preschoolers have been exploring dental health through activities, stories, and art. To add to the fun they enjoyed a visit from a dental hygienist, who remind the preschoolers to brush twice a day, eat healthy food to keep their teeth strong and bright!
Brrr it’s cold outside and the perfect time for the preschoolers to welcome winter in the classroom, with some fun activities. The children did some ice fishing for number fish, played a mitten memory game to practice their letter recognition skills and also explored arctic animals in the science area.
The preschoolers reviewed patterns & letters, in the new centers that where set up in the classroom this month. They also increased their fine motor skills hanging mittens and working at the sensory table. Finally we had a visit with Miss Joanie for music class.
