We had a blast this week learning about spiders and bats! We learned big vocabulary words, e.g., echolocation, mammals, nocturnal, and arachnid to name a few! We graphed, painted paints and made our own “Great 8 Spiders”! We had oral language practice during large group and even spun our very own spider web! We have such an awesome time in Pre-K!
This week we taught our student’s the importance of good dental care. We read books about taking care of our teeth, sorted the healthy foods from the bad foods for our teeth, categorized tools that are used for your teeth, we did toothpaste surveys, made our own teeth, played games with fake teeth and much, much more! Take a sneak peek through our “Dental Health” week.
We’ve had a great start to the ‘New Year’! We have jumped right back into learning lots of new things; from learning new sight words to practicing our writing skills, graphing and skip counting by fives and tens. We love sharing stories, special events, our ideas and theories! Sneak a peek at all the fun we’ve been having!
We spent a week discovering bats and spiders. We also compared and contrasted these two creatures. We learned that bats are mammals just like humans and whales except they can fly. They can find their way around through echolocation. We discovered that spiders are arachnids and have eight legs and some can have up to eight eyes.
We enjoyed spider and bat crafts, graphing spiders and bats, we created a venn diagram comparing and contrasting, we sorted, patterned, practiced the letter ‘s’ and ‘b’, and the number ‘8’. Of course, we did much more so check out our pictures!
Apples BIG and Apples small! Guess what? In Pre-K, we like them all!!!
We have spent a week of exploring apples! We’ve painted and stamped with them, sorted them, patterned them, counted them, tasted them and even cooked them!
We used our math skills to compare their sizes and colors. We made applesauce by cutting, measuring, mixing and following a recipe. We were scientists investigating the inside and outside of an apple, learning the process of how apples grow and what season the apples are ready to be picked from the trees.
We’ve learned some new songs about apples, practiced our names and letters and of course our numbers too! We are really getting good at this Pre-K business!!! 🙂
