This was the Creative Tots first art enrichment project of the year! We learned about Paul Klee’s love of bright colors and cats! We created our own buildings inspired by Klee’s Cityscape and the tots had some messy fun experimenting with chalk pastels!
Miss Courtney teaches the preschool class about Paul Klee
The toddler class makes their own Kitty House.
Once finished with the chalk pastels we used tissue paper to blend the colors together.
Paul Klee 1921 “Castle and Sun.”
We couldn’t forget Klee’s colorful sky’s!
We read the book, The Cat and the Bird: A Children’s Book Inspired by Paul Klee, written by Geraldine Elschner & Peggy Nille.
Paul Klee 1928 “Cat and Bird.”
The Pre-K and K-Prep class had a chance to interpret their own version of what the painting meant.

Our Creative Tots have done it again!!! They never seem to stop amazing us!! With the amazing help from our art teachers, Miss Pilar and Miss Erin, our tots have learned and created works of art from Piet Mondrain, Paul Klee, Claude Monet, Dale Chihuly, Georgia O’Keeffe and Birch Tree art. The children also learned about the color wheel and experimented with texture, photography, mixed media, and much more!! I hope you are as impressed and proud of our Creative Tots as we are!!

May has been a busy month in the preschool classroom. We invited our Mothers to a “Mommy and Me Tea” to celebrate Mother’s Day. The Mothers enjoyed listening to songs, making crafts, and of course sharing tea and cookies with their children. We also completed our study of the life cycle of the butterfly by observing live caterpillars change into butterflies in the classroom and attending a fun field trip to the Krohn Conservatory for the butterfly show.

The preschoolers celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday in many ways. We enjoyed reading many of his stories and making Dr. Seuss art. We charted our likes and dislikes on our “Would you like green eggs?” chart, (I’m surprised that so many of the children would like green eggs!) The preschoolers also enjoyed identifying letters and matching letters with Red Fish, Blue Fish. They got a “catch” out of our math game One Fish, Two Fish where they were practicing number identification and one-to-one correspondence. We hope you all love Dr. Suess as much as us!
